Paper Piecing is Nothing New...
It's a technique that's been around for a long while.
Paper piecing looks pretty cool and it's stupid-simple. I mean, I'm a pretty good artist and I'm willing to do the kind of detailed work that makes most others cringe... but even I won't stoop to hand drawing a complex paisley or even a plaid. Paper piecing makes it possible to add amazing patterns to your coloring projects.
The down side is that paper piecing immediately ruins your depth and realism.
I know, you're thinking "but that plaid scarf that I pieced, it looks so real!"
Actually no, that plaid scarf looks very plaid.
What it doesn't look like is a real plaid scarf that bends around the neck and waves in the wind. There's a difference between something looking patterned and something looking real.
But you can piece with realism! Vanilla Arts style.
Join me for a beginner level Copic Marker class where we discuss the secrets to choosing ideal patterned paper and how to use your Copics to create realistic dimensional projects.
