Realistic Florals: Why Traditional Copic Marker Blending Technique Makes Fake Flowers

Do your flowers look fake?

Do you dream of coloring realistic flowers with Copic Markers, colored pencils, or even watercolor? Do you practice— coloring lots of flower stamps and trying out new tutorials… but you never seem to get the look of a real flower? My latest video at YouTube is a free lesson on why traditional Copic blending techniques fail miserably when it comes to florals. It’s not you. It’s the technique…

Realistic Coloring: How to add authentic texture to your Copic Marker and colored pencil projects

Realistic Coloring: How to add authentic texture to your Copic Marker and colored pencil projects

Do you blend everything smooth?

My latest Copic Marker Coloring Tips video at YouTube is all about texture.

As a beginner, most colorers focus on blending skills. After all, the blends are what originally attracted you to markers in the first place.

So you dream about blending, you practice blending, and the color blends are what you notice most when you go online to look at other coloring projects and tutorials.

Blend, blend, blend.

But wait, are you stuck on blending?

Perfect for markers or colored pencil

And I've used both Copic markers and Prismacolor Premier pencils here to create amazing depth and dimension.

Tulips & Ribbon is a beginner's challenge image. If you can blend fairly well and are looking to color larger and more complex images, this stamp is perfect for you!

And it's a large image! Color it full page or half page size. But cardmakers will love this smaller. How about a landscape fold card with a raised die cut sentiment in the upper right corner?

And I've used both (plus some Distress ink!) to create amazing depth and dimension.
