Pssttt… I‘ve got a secret!
I don’t do paper crafts.
I don’t own any dies, I don’t have one of those crank handle thingamabobbers with the plastic shim doohickies either. I’m completely stashless. No closets and drawers full of pretty paper, no charming ephemera bobbles, and (gasp!) no magical embossing powders either.
I’m not kidding. I’ve got a drawer with five years of class projects thrown in it.
So if you want to make cards with my Copic coloring class projects, I am really, really, really not the person to ask!
But I do know who knows.
When I’ve got a glitter question, Elena is my first contact.
I think her middle name might be Sequin but she will neither confirm or deny this suspicion.
Anyway, as part of the Vanilla Voices series, I ask people who are far more experty than me to share their skills with you.
Elena is the brains behind our underpainting swatch series called Vanilla Undercover. She’s a whiz-bang colorer but she’s also got that papercrafter’s stash o’ stuff thing going on.
She knows card making products and she watches the trends, so she’s a great resource to introduce you to carding for advanced colorers.
Spotlight Cards is Elena’s new series of videos at YouTube.
Spotlight Cards are designed to feature your beautiful coloring rather than hide it under 6 other design elements.
Because if you’ve just spent $50 on the class and four hours coloring an 8x10 project which wasn’t coordinated beforehand with the latest scrapbooking pad of papers… well, the last thing you want is to mess it up trying to make a card out of it.
Your amazing coloring deserves more. Elena’s been wrestling with this what-to-do-with-Vanilla-projects conundrum since she started my classes.
In the Spotlight vids, you’ll see Elena working with actual Vanilla Arts class projects, turning them into amazingness. She’ll also use images from her own online classes and other fun stamps where she utilizes Vanilla concepts in her own unique way.
Spotlights are quick videos but the card projects are actually pretty darned speedy too! Every project takes 20 minutes or less.
Uh oh… she’s getting to me… maybe I do need to start making cards… I’ve got that drawer full of projects just sitting there…
Darn it, Elena!
Elena’s first video is based on the March 2019 Vanilla Livestream lesson Sunscreen for Yellows project.
The original Vanilla Livestream lesson used Power Poppy’s “Daffodil Bouquet” digital stamp to fill an entire 8.5 x 11 page of X-Press It Cardstock.
Elena was able to make 3 cards from that one project! She demonstrates the “Smile” card for you today.
