Schedule:

This is meant to be a relaxing time of self-exploration and improvement. Break your clocks and work on lake time. We will let the needs of the day set our schedule. Our casual time frame includes:

First session:

Arrive anytime after 12pm on Monday, Oct 15 and make yourself at home. The welcome dinner buffet will be ready at 5:30pm but we'll keep things warm for those arriving later.

Three full days of instruction (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday). Work inside the cottage, on the deck, or at the beach. Take time to enjoy the lake and the scenery on your breaks.

Pack and depart on Friday, Oct 19 by 3pm with a hearty brunch before you go.

Second session:

Arrive anytime after 12pm on Friday, Oct 19) and make yourself at home. The welcome dinner buffet will be ready at 5:30pm but we'll keep things warm for those arriving later.

Three full days of instruction (Saturday, Sunday, Monday). Work inside the cottage, on the deck, or at the beach. Take time to enjoy the lake and the scenery on your breaks.

Pack and depart on Tuesday, Oct 23 by 3pm with a hearty brunch before you go.

Facilities:

This is a family style cottage; we do not have the luxury of private bedrooms. Our living space is 2,000 square feet including 2 bathrooms, a great room, rec room, kitchen & dining area, plus outdoor deck.

Our beach area is private but adjacent to other private properties.

Smoking is strictly prohibited indoors by the landlord and Amy has asthma. The landlord absolutely will charge damage penalties and cleanup fees should you break the rules. If you smoke outside, please be courteous to remain away from open windows and to dispose of butts properly.

Climate:

This is Northern Michigan where autumn is especially brisk and chilly. Expect highs of 55 and lows of 40 during our October visit.

Cedar Lake is a shallow inland lake which will be beautiful but cold during our visit. Swimming is not suggested (unless you're a polar bear type) but wading may be cool and refreshing.

Internet & Communications:

Our cottage is in an area of vacation cottages on the far outskirts of town. There is no cable internet or DSL available.

Cell service is described as "usable but intermittent". AT&T and Verizon coverage seems to work best at the cottage but the signal is not strong.

For internet, a personal hotspot is your only option at the cottage. You can travel into Traverse City where there are numerous restaurants and coffee shops plus a library with excellent high speed internet available. Best option: use this retreat as an excuse to unplug and unwind!
