In the bleak midwinter...

Cheer up with a brilliant burst of red!

"Red Bird" is my latest Copic coloring image, inspired by the cardinals that live in my backyard. This digital stamp is completely free to Free Digi Club subscribers from now until February 2017.

No strings, no spam. It's simply a free image for you to color.

Subscribers to the FDC receive one free image every month, delivered right to your email inbox.

My digital stamps are ideal for Copic marker coloring but they also work great with colored pencil and even watercolor. My stamps are full of wide open spaces to blend and celebrate pretty color. There are no distracting texture marks to get in the way of your creativity!

That's what the "Vanilla" in Vanilla Arts Co. is all about. I give you the vanilla base, you add the hot fudge, the sprinkles, the whipped cream, and the Copic ink.

Perfect for markers or colored pencil

And I've used both (plus some Distress ink!) to create a silent snowfall scene.

Red Bird is a fun yet challenging stamp. Color him simply or amp up the realism, creating soft and downy feathers.

Red Bird has a bit of spark in his eye. I really hope that you enjoy coloring him!

To get the full details on my Red Bird coloring process, take the Marker Painting Basics online class!

Marker Painting Basics lessons are perfect for intermediate colorers and those looking to add more realism to their coloring projects.

We're learning the basics of realism with new challenges every month!

Birds are popular stamp images but too many colorers make their birds look like rubber duckies- completely smooth and featherless.

Birds are full of wonderful texture. If you're not covering your birds with feathers, you're missing their most important feature!

This lesson also includes a bonus segment on my soft faux watercolor backgrounds!

The best thing about Marker Painting Basics classes is that they're NON SEQUENTIAL!

You do not need three months of prior experience to understand the concepts and techniques in this lesson.

If you can handle basic Copic blending method then you're ready to start incorporating real artist techniques into your coloring projects for enhanced realism, depth, and dimension.

Each class stands on it's own as an independent learning experience. No prior experience necessary!

All of my Workshop classes are FOREVER ACCESS. Work at your own pace and repeat the project as many times as you'd like.

painting techniques with copic markers?

Yep!

Negative painting is a trick that painters have used, almost since the days of cave painting. It's a great way to develop really complex images without killing yourself trying to keep track of all the layers.

This month, we'll be using the technique to color "Winter Trees"

And guess what?

It's not a stamp!

Every student will make their own unique forest. It's easier than you think!

I especially recommend this class for my watercolor students, we use this same technique for leaf veins and so this is a great chance to practice.

Based on a watercolor project by Linda Kemp, you'll love this lesson!
