Vanilla Undercover: Underpaint with Copic Markers for Beautiful Realism - Lavender Field

Add realism to Copic Marker blends by underpainting with complementary or opposite colors. Real shade isn’t just darker, real shade is murky and desaturated. Use Y under BV to soften and neutralize a cool violet. | VanillaArts.com | #copicmarker #re…

Create a Delicate Violet

Real shade is not darker color, real shade is desaturated color.

To create the desaturated colors that Copic Marker does not make, Vanilla Arts Company teaches Online Workshops and Livestream Coloring Challenges using the underpainting method. Students learn to layer colors realistically rather than blend.

Underpainting creates natural colors found in everyday life.

Lavender Field

The V marker family is full of interesting colors, but I couldn’t fine one that matched the soft dark violet I see here in my lavender photo reference.

Y28? You might think it’s too strong for a base coat, but trust me— it’s perfect.

Y28 desaturates the vibrancy of BV28. Follow it with a layer of BV17. Then end with the top coat of BV34 to finish the blend.

I know I’ve said this before, but it’s so true, just as flowers need water to grow, you need enough wet ink for the blend to happen! Then wait, there’s a delay time to this blend but once it starts, it’s worth it!
