Dil O Daff

DIGITAL LINE ART ONLY

My birthday is in March, so I’m amazed it took me so long to finally draw and color a daffodil digital stamp! This year, instead of the usual birthday bouquet, I was presented with a set of waxed daffodil bulbs. The blooms are spectacular and I hope they last longer than cut flowers.

I love the art of lettering and it’s something I hope to incorporate into my illustrations more… because frankly, after years of illustrating for textbooks and educational materials, things always look a little naked to me without words around them. The frame is one of my favorite background devices, so why not fill it with beautiful letterforms. I used a silver gel pen on my version and I’m excited to see what you come up with.

Or color the daffodil without the words— the single bulb version is more versatile for card fronts or simple applications.

This image is Ideal for Copic Marker, colored pencil, watercolor, or mixed media applications. Illustrated by Amy Shulke.
