I created this image for the Workshop series of tutorials in Colored Pencil Magazine’s June 2020 issue.

CP Magazine limits tutorials to 8 steps which means we’re forced to skim over or skip some of the minor steps and frankly, we don’t have the space to discus the important steps much either. This booklet as an expanded version of the free tutorial.

Transparent glass is something I love to color and I’m always fascinated with how a shift in lighting or simply turning the object a few degrees completely changes the coloring process.

Lemonade is a simplified introduction to coloring realistic glass. The glass is heavy and thick, the color palette is small, and the shapes are relatively easy to understand. I hope you use the lessons here as a springboard to more glass projects with greater challenges!

Lemonade is suitable for colored pencil, alcohol markers, pastels, watercolor....get creative!
