Santa's Hat

Digital Stamp + Supply List

AS SEEN ON YOUTUBE!

There are lots of Santa Hat stamps and coloring pages out there and yet Santa Hats have been at the top of my most-requested lists for years now. I resisted because, well… does the world really need another Santa hat?

Apparently so.

I figured if I was going to do one, I’d do it different. Gone is the usual puff-ball at the end of the cap, instead I’ve replaced it with an older Santa tradition, the jingle bell. But like a butterfly flapping his wings in Africa, that one little substitution created a ripple effect. Suddenly I had a very eye catching piece of metal on the left with nothing to balance it out on the right.

As I was searching for photo references for the drawing, I stumbled upon information about the original Saint Nicholas and found his symbol is the shepherd’s staff (crozier). I knew I couldn’t get a full 5 foot long staff into the drawing, but what about a small piece of jewelry?

This warm furry cap would look wonderful on holiday cards or even framed as a personalized gift.

Santa’s Hat is ideal for alcohol marker, colored pencil, watercolor, or mixed media applications. Illustrated by me, Amy Shulke.

This illustration was drawn from scratch and created especially for YouTube as part of Amy’s Draw & Color series— this episode explores the difficulty of coloring small spaces with large alcohol markers.
