Vanilla Undercover: Underpaint with Copic Markers for Beautiful Realism - Blueberry Buckle
True Blue: the way it looks in real life
Real shade is not darker color, real shade is desaturated color.
To create the desaturated colors that Copic Marker does not make, Vanilla Arts Company teaches Online Workshops and Livestream Coloring Challenges using the underpainting method. Students learn to layer colors realistically rather than blend.
Underpainting creates natural colors found in everyday life.
Blueberry Buckle
To color blueberries, I knew that I needed a dark blue that didn’t scream out for attention. Copic makes a lot of blues but even the darkest blues are still very clean and some almost glow. Shade definitely does not glow!
Surprisingly, a little YR under my B marker did the trick. Don’t just take my word for it, try it out.
Start with a base coat of YR24, then add a good coat of the second (B99), third (B97) and fourth (B45) markers.
Remember, lots of moisture and give the Copic ink time to blend!
